Welcome to ASYC
Aberdeen and Stonehaven Yacht Club, located in the North East of Scotland is an active, friendly dinghy sailing club with a competitive racing program, family sailing and a strong junior program.
We have the unique advantage of sailing in two very different locations during the year. From March to June we sail at the Loch of Skene, near Westhill. The Loch is a 357 acre lake, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for wildlife conservation purposes, which provides an ideal location to both learning to sail and competitive racing. Racing takes place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons plus Wednesday evenings. Junior tuition is on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
From June through to November the club moves to Stonehaven bay. Our clubhouse in this scenic harbour is an early 19th century listed 3 bay, former warehouse and is the base for our activities with ample changing rooms, galley and a bar. The club owns both secure dinghy yards and sheds for boat storage. Sailing out in the bay is on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings with spectacular views including Dunnottar Castle and the occasional dolphin pod. Sea sailing with tides and waves provides a very different challenge from the inland Loch of Skene.
We sail a wide range of boats at the club, classes include Lasers, Solos, RS400, RS200, and Blazes. All racing apart from the annual regatta is handicap racing. The club has a fleet of club boats available for hire by members which includes Lasers, Toppers, Blaze and Feva dinghies.
